Bad Day = Cute Baby Stuff

This last week I was having a really rough day, so after my little boy was in bed I went to work. I have been really stressed with the thought of all the projects that I have wanted to get done before this baby comes.  So I did the two things that I really wanted to get done.

The first was I love the car seat tent.  Even though she will be born in the summer I hate when I go places and the baby isn't protected by anything.  Also everyone wants to touch the babies face.  Grrrrr....  I had someone sneeze on my son when he was just a week old.  I fell apart.  I mean I was a wreck.  With this baby I really wanted to have one!

While I was looking for patterns I came across  this one.  I loved it! I did my handles a little different.  I love how it turned out.

My little boy  was the one that picked out the fabric.  He kept saying, "Oh Mama, I love this.  It is so cute."  I love him.  He is super cute!!!  This is what it looks like on the other side.

Then when my son was born I had someone give me one of those burp cloths that were made from a cloth diapers.  I used it all the time.  Then my mom had another one made.  They are awesome.  I bought the cloth diapers and never made them.  I have had them for 2 years.  I was sick of them staring at me waiting to be made.  I pulled out my scrap fabric, the cloth diapers and I found this tutorial.

It was SO easy.  I thought that it would be harder. I did 9 in an hour and half.  I also did two different stitches.  She did a zigzag and I tried it.  I am not a fan.  Then I tried a straight stitch and liked it much better.  Here is all of them that I got done.  I am so excited to use them!
The girl ones.

I have no idea why the last one didn't flip.  Alwell!

Here are the boy ones that I did for gifts.
I am so excited!  I love that they are done. Plus, the fact that I had all of the stuff on hand.  I didn't have to run out and buy all of the stuff to do these projects.  Now on to the next project that is glaring at me.

What is something you need to get done?

Guess what?!

I have to let you all know,  I cut out my first pattern ever!  I tried one when I was like 15.  But my mom cut it out and everything.  It is an apron pattern.  Wish me luck!

A Jean Redo!

Many of you know that I am pregnant and getting more pregnant by the day.  A few months ago I was at Old Navy and found a great deal on some jeans.  Well I was HUGE with my son and I thought that I might get as big as I did with him.  So I bought some pants that were too big and thought I would grow into them.  I am happy to report I still don't fit in them.  But they are some of the only pants that I have.  I needed to do something!

So I went to work.  I thought that I would show you want I did.  Now a huge disclaimer.  I am a beginner sewer and it isn't that great!  You will get the point and I am sure that most of you will do better then I did.Let get started!

I started by cutting a piece of elastic.  Then pin it in place
I started sewing and then you need to pull it super tight!  I might as tight as you can or it won't work very well.  I learned that on the other pair that I did.

Do that to both sides.  Make sure that you have a needle that will sew through denim or it will break.  Plus don't sew your belt loop.  It will look like this.
I told you I wasn't that great.  It was my first time!  Here is what it looks like on the back.

Another thing I thought of after I got done doing this is you could make a small cut in the denim and hide the elastic.  Either way it works great!

The February Challenage

I have been wanting to do this for a while.  I have heard of people who do a 30 day crafting with only what they have on hand.   Well I am here to say today is the start of that.  I will not be going to the DI (or Goodwill) to buy anything.  I will take things that are giving to me, but I can't buy anything.

Here are a few things that are on my list for the month:
  • Fabric Flowers
  • Baby blankets
  • Bibs
  • Bow Holder
  • Redo skirts into dresses
  • Headbands
  • Ruffle Bum Onsies
  • Scrapbooking
  • Cards
  • Flashcards
  • Finish my "beach bag"

The sad thing is this is just a few things that I could  do with what I have on hand. If there is anything that you would like to see a tutorial for just let me know!  I will try to do tutorials for all of them.

I Heart Target!!

If you knew my hubbie you would know that he is a huge hunter.  Well last night he wanted to go to Sportman's Warehouse.  I told him that I  would run over to Target and check to see if they had anything on clearance that I would like to get.  I told him that I was more just pricing then anything.

I just found out this last week that it is about 95% sure that I will be having a baby girl!  Which we are so excited.... but I have very little girl stuff since I have a little boy.  So was looking around at all the cute girl stuff and just saw the dollar signs.  I was getting a little overwhelmed.

Then I found an area that had some clearance items.  Needless to say, I could have spent about $60.  But that was not in the budget.  So instead I only spent $34.  This is what I was about to get!

This would be a crib set which includes a  crib comforter, bumper, and crib  sheet.  Now the night I found out I was having a girl, I looked on line for crib sets.  The one that I fell in love with was about $175.  Well this one was ....$12.49.  Yep, you read that right.  The Pj's there were only $1.74.

Then I found some clothes.  I was so excited because they were so inexpensive!  I could have bought so much more, but I restrained myself.  Here is what I got for under $9.  I feel in love with that onesie.
Then I found a couple of random things.  I got 2 packages of  safety plug protectors for $0.83 each. Which is great because my son just decided it was cool to play with plugs. I also got two sippy cups for $1.72!  I was so excited!

So at this moment I love Target.  Now my hubbie on the other hand, he just laughed and said, " I thought you were just checking prices."  Well..... I guess I shouldn't price check.

What have I been up too....

The other day I was on Make It and Love It and she is talented!  She made these super cool Belly Band for when you are pregnant.  So I thought that I would make some.  I used ribbed Jersey Knit.  It feels like wearing a comfy tank top.  I made a brown and red one.

The red was on sell for dirty cheap and I love brown.  She had such great directions.  Thanks a bunch!

Now you might be wondering why I am making these.... unless I am pregnant.  I AM!!!!  We are so excited and this has been a blessing we have been wanting for a long while now.  I am due July 4th and I know that this little one will come sooner then that!  I just thought that I would let you all know!

I hope that I will get some good pictures so that I can show all of you guys!
