Getting my life together!!!

Lately, I have been taking a little bit of time to blog hop.  Which turns out there are tons of amazing things.  Now I knew this, but time and knowing are two different things.  I was over at the New Nostalgia, she holds a Anti- Procrastination Party.  She has such an amazing blog and tons of fun ideas.

As I was going through the list, I found this amazing Household Notebook.  Now if you know me, I am an organizational freak!  I mean it!  You can ask my hubbie, I will get something organized, use it for a few months and then reorganize it again.  So when I came across this, my heart skipped a beat.  I mean it!

Shannon, over at Living Life On Purpose, made this!  She has changed my life.  I started working on one for myself right away.  I gathered my binder and wanted to write a list and get things together so that I can feel as though my life is a little bit more put together.  If you would like to make too head over and take a look.  What I like is that you can make this personalized.  Also I LOVE the binder!!!  Look how great it is!!

So I invited her over to vist!  Here is what she has to say!

Hi, I'm Shannon from the blog, Living My Life On Purpose.

I started blogging a LONG time ago... I don't even remember who hosted it! I took a break from blogging until I joined a certain social network site. I started blogging there and was actually quite surprised that people were actually reading my ramblings! Then, for certain reasons, I left that social network site and joined Blogger! I started blogging to kind of keep a record of my life. As time went on and I became more familiar with the blogging world, I kind of got addicted to all of the fun things that can be done with a blog! Now, here I sit with hundreds of hits each day, wondering how on earth it evolved so quickly! I mean, there are tons of moms that sit around and blog about their lives... why are people reading me?

Who am I? I am a self-proclaimed crafty mama! I married my soul mate, Mike, in 2006. We have the two most amazingly beautiful daughters, Jaden and Taylor. You might hear about them occasionally on my blog ;o) I am a graphic designer by day and supermom by night. When the kids go to bed, I break out the sewing machine, glue gun, and bottle of wine. Sure, I catch a lot of crap from Mike for my crafty creations and the messes they make (hey, I always clean up after myself... it may just take a day or two), but you should see his movie collection! We all have our obsessions :o)

My girls are my world. They are sweet but LOUD! Jaden is full of drama, yet so sensitive to the feelings of others. Taylor, although still very young, is turning out to be our wild child! I'm scared to death of the day that they get their heads together to scheme against us! Watch out world! In all seriousness though, they are great kids! They amuse me and inspire me. They have filled my heart with more love than I ever thought it could hold. They make being a mom the best thing I have ever done!

I am born from a very creative family. I grew up in a house full of markers and paper and tape and glitter. My mom has always been so creative and artistic. She has taught me well! She gets it honestly though, seeing as her mom is one of the best paper crafters I know. Even though my dad claims to be artistically-challenged, I credit my sewing abilities to his side. His mom has an amazing sewing ability! I hope all of my creative genes were passed onto my girls!

Life On Purpose actually started out as Shades of Gray. I like to believe that life is not always black and white. In fact, it's usually in those shades of gray that we find the most joy. I changed the title of my blog a couple of years ago after reading the book, Intelligence for Your Life: Powerful Lessons for Personal Growth by John Tesh. He talked about how it is important to live your life on purpose. He believes that people who live optimistic, purpose-driven lives, live longer and are happier. I couldn't agree more, therefore I adopted my new mantra, never let the struggles of life interfere with the pleasures of living. What can I say, I'm a "glass half full" type of girl!

What can you expect from my blog? Me. My life. I may be on cloud nine one day and down in the dumps the next... I've been known to run hot and cold. You'll find everything about me that makes me smile and may even read about what makes me cry. I cook, I bake, I craft, I repurpose, and I LOVE sharing all of it with you! If you don't like it, click the "X" in the upper right-hand corner. If you DO like it, let me know! Either way, thanks for stopping by and enjoy the ride!!

Isn't she so cute!  I also wanted to talk about her Life list.  Now we have all hear of the bucket list.  Well I love how she put this, " My Life List is a list of things I would like to accomplish in my lifetime, not a list of things I want to do before I die.  You may think of them as the same thing, but they are not.  Whereas a Bucket List focuses on death, a Life List is all about living!

Some dreams on my list are major and others are small.  I cross off things on my list when I feel like I have fully accomplished them.  I don't set out to do these things for the sole purpose of crossing them off my list.  I do what feels right, when the time is right.

My Life List first originated after 9/11.  I saw an episode of Oprah with a mother of a girl that was killed in the attacks of 9/11.  This mother was talking about going through her daughter's room and personal belongings after she was killed.  In doing so, she found her daughter's Life List.  That episode was very inspiring to me.  That day, I started my Life List.

I'm an organizational control freak so I have a few rules about my Life List!  There will always be 50 goals on my list.  I can change them whenever I want but once an item has been crossed off, there is no changing it!"

That made me think, what do I want to do on my life.  I will be posting my life list soon.  But this weekend I made more time for my son!  That was one thing that I felt like I needed to do this weekend.  But my hubbie also went hunting so I can't sleep while he is gone so I made some fun stuff!  I will show you soon.

Head on over and see this super great Household Notebook!  It will change your life!  She also is
selling printable pages for a Household Organizational Binder. You get 23 pages for only $5. Have them email Shannon at lifeonpurpose@rocketmail.com if you are interested.  They are so cute and such a great deal.  I think this would be great for gifts!

My Maganet Board!

Welcome Welcome!  I am so glad that you all came for Tuesday Tell All! I have an amazing hubbie and I was able to get some crafting done this weekend. Hurray!  I have been wanting to do somethings.  This is one of them.

A while back I got the idea to do a magnet board.  One day I was out thrifting with my friend Katie and she told me about a sweet sale on huge frames at the Di. They were all half off, so of course I wanted to go.  If I had more room I would have bought more then just one.  But this is the one that I decided on.

I bought a Rustoleum Ultra Cover 2x Aqua Spray paint.  I LUV this stuff! I was amazed at how amazing this stuff is.  I love how it turned out!

Then my friend gave me a piece of sheet metal for my birthday.  I covered it with brown burlap and glued it to the frame.  I am so excited to for the new addition to my craft room.

I then went to Ikea and got these awesome containers!  I can't wait to organize and fill them up.  My craft room is coming together great!  I can't wait till I have done some more to show you.

Now on to the linking party!

Tuesday Tell All #8

Welcome back!  Once again I am so thankful to your amazing comments.  They helped tons with my little blah week.

I am back and even though I had a bad week I did get some crafting done.  My mother in law gave me some pants that didn't fit her.  I tried them on and I like my pants really like my pants long.  These however, were really short on me and I felt really awkward.  I really liked the color of them and I didn't have any capri's that fit.  I rolled them for a while and they were way to hot!  I am a super hot body! Then I decided to try my hand at hemming.  I cut them off, then sewed the hem.  I can't even tell you how excited I am about them!  I wear them all the time.  They fit great and they are so cute.  Here is a picture of the final product!  Don't look at my chubby pastie white legs!
I will  be making another pair soon.

Another project that we have been trying to finish, but it was way bigger then I thought.  Over the weekend of the 4th of July we cleaned out the garage.  Now, this was a crazy idea!  It had been about 25 years since this was cleaned out.  My mother in law makes me laugh.  If she needs something and can't find it, she will just go and buy a new one. Needless to say,we found a lot and multiples of a things.

When we were talking about how to make more storage I came across this blog entry.  I was so excited to see this.  On House of Smith's.  This is her dad's house.  I wish that my hubbie wanted to keep the garage this clean!
I knew that it work amazingly in the garage.  Then I talked to my amazing hubbie and he reluctantly said that he would build it for me!  I am so happy about how they turned out!

Great huh!?  We were so tired that we just put whatever we could on the shelves to get it off the ground.

Here is also a sneak peek at some bookshelves that I am redoing.  I am so excited to do it!

I am linking to these parties.

Plus I am doing a linking party!  I know that today is Wednesday, but the linking parties will be on Tuesday.  I am so excited to do this.  My rules are:

Tuesday Tell All #7

Welcome to Tuesday Tell All!  I am super excite about today's project.  I know that most of you don't have a problem remembering, but I have a huge problem!  I buy tons of stuff from the Di and then just pack it away.  Since we have moved I have been trying to finish my projects before I get more.

I saw a project the other day, where someone used a picture frame to write down all of their projects.  I thought that was a brilliant idea.  However, I forgot to copy the link, so if you know who did this I would love to give them credit.  So wanted to do one myself for my craft room.  I had just bought a frame that I didn't know what I would do with, but I knew that I would figure something out.  When I saw it, I knew that was what I should do with it.

I was going to do a tutorial, but then I forgot to take pictures in the middle of the process. However, this is how I did it.

  1. I bought a frame from the Di.
  2. Then I took the glass out and sprayed painted it bright red.  I love this color!
  3. Then I cleaned the glass and put it back in the frame.
  4. Get scrapbooking paper  and measure the frame with fun paper.
  5. Put everything back together and hang it where you would like it.
  6. Write ALL of the projects that need to be done.
  7. Enjoy!
This is  after I had spray painted it.

Here is how mine turned out.

I am crazy about it.  Hopefully this week, he will make the desk for my craft room.
(I can hope right)

Ikea!

I know that I don't need to say more?  I have never been there.  So this last weekend my hubbie and I went with my little one and my parents down to Lehi.  I need a break and so we went down there and spent the night.   My mom and I went to Ikea why the boy went to Cabela's.  It was so much fun.

I was so excited to go and then I walked in there!  Oh my goodness.  I was so overwhelmed.  But I loved every second of it.  I was looking for an addition to my craft room that I wanted to work on today.  Instead I am sick and I have a wonderful sister in law that has taken my son so that I can just relax.  Thanks Suzie!!!!  I found where they were suppose to be.  They there, then look in another place, GONE!!!  I was so sad.  Then my sweet mom found them in another place.  I was so excited, I think I yelled, "Hurray."  This is what I bought!
I am making a magnet board and I am going to organize all my small craft items like buttons and paper clips.  I am SO stoked!  My hubbie thinks that I have an addiction.  He was surprised that I didn't buy much.  But when we moved out of his mom's house and we get our own.  That store will be where I spend most of his checks!  Until then I will have to get love the few things that I did get and the prices are amazing!

I also got a funnel that is lime green and I love!  For only $0.99.

I also a bead counter for the little one!  I was to excited and that fact that it was $7.99 is even better!  I was so excited to bring this home so that he could play with it!
My mom feel in love with this a kitchen there and I love this play room white board.  I think that I will do in The next house.
Then there was this!  I would love to have something like this for our TV! I LUV our TV cabinet.  But this is so amazing.

I hope to go again soon.  But I need to have a mission this time.  I need to have a purpose, otherwise I just wander.  If you have one close, go and enjoy!

It has begun..

Last night after we put the little one to bed I got a bee in my bonnet.  I cleaned up the floor and then I walked past my sad craft room.  Then then I got the bright idea to clean it out.  Now mind you this is like 10 at night.  I have to show you how sad it looks!

These pictures are awful!  I am sorry we live in the basement.  So I started to clean it out to that I could organize.  I love that feeling of cleaning something and know thing it will be amazing in the end.

I wanted to list the things that I planned for this room.  You can see the frame that is sticking out, that will be painted turquoise.  I am not sure if it will be a dark or light.  Then I am going to cover a piece of sheet  metal with dark brown burlap over it.  I am super excited.  Then I have baby food jars that I will be spraying the lid and then putting a magnet on the bottom and using them for containers on my  magnet board.

My hubbie will be building me a table that will fold down when it is not in use!  This space is a little small, but mine none the less. I am super excited to be able to have a little retreat!

I will show you hopefully next week how I have organized my awesome craft room.  Hope to see you soon!

My Craft Room!

As most of you know that I just moved in with my mother in law and we live in the basement.  I know what you are thinking, a dark, dingy, basement.  That is not that case at all.  It is a great space.  Most of all, a closet, because the closet space is lacking.  Well we don't need alot of closet space so my wonderful hubbie has given me the ok to finally have a craft area.  Hurray!

I will have somewhere to have my Cricut, sewing machine and scrapbooking stuff where I can actually use it. I know I am jumping for joy.  Now this is the last place that I have unpacked because I knew once that was done I would not do anything else.  So I have made myself do that first and now that it is so close to being done I can start to think about how I want to organize and decorate it.  I am so excited!

I went and visited good old Martha's website and this is what I found:

I like the clip boards, but I don't know if this is really what I want.  I think it is kinda modern.

I love this idea!  But I actually have a room, so no go.  But if you have a small space, why a great idea.  Or if you work at home and have toddlers, great option!
I LOVE these shelves.  I think that I will be able to use these somehow.  I am not sure where, but I will find a why.  I think that my colors will be a little brighter.

This is another thing that I LOVE! I want to do these for my craft room and also my kitchen.  I don't have one right now.  But when I get a kitchen I will have these! I have one already that I use for my scrap ribbon.

I will have these.  I was at the Di a while back and they had all of  their large frames on sale for half off.  I found one without glass, which is what I wanted.  I am going to get a piece of scarp metal and put a fabric over top of it and then I want to get these containers and use them for buttons and metal embellishments for scrapbooking.  I am so excited!   Do any of you have any idea where I can buy them that I would have to sell my child to buy more the one?

I can't wait to show you my before and after.  I hope to start working on this next week!  Thanks for stopping by!

I am linking to THESE parties!

Tuesday Tell All #1

I am so excited to introduce Tuesday Tell All!  Since we moved in I have been try to organize everything in different storage.  My mother in law has been SO great to work with.  She has an AMAZING storage room and she has given us about half of it for our storage.  But I just stuffed everything in there.  Well it wasn't fitting so I had to think of a way to use the shelves so that I could get the best storage out of them  A while back I saw some had used those old wire cube that were so popular for  kids room a while back.  Well she had used them for paper storage in her craft room.  I thought that was so great!

I was a part of Free Cycle and just asked if there was only one getting rid of some.  Well I got tons!  So I did a storage unit for under our  bathroom sink.  We had a  tiny vanity!  So I had to use as much as I could.  I still have to think how I am going to do it for our new bathroom.  We have a huge vanity now.

I had these huge shelves to work with and so I took two panels for the side and them I took a can of vegetables and measured how much space I needed.  Then I took three more panels for the inside and zip tied them to the two side panels.  But I made it three sections so that I could get the maximum storage. It turned out great!

Here is the Before picture!

Here is the process of adding all of the cans.

Then here is the after
I have loved this!  It works so well and I have freed up tons of space so that we can store more stuff in here.  It fit prefect and my hubbie thinks that it is pretty cool.  I hope to show you more cool stuff that I am planning in the upcoming weeks on Tuesday Tell All.

I am linking here!
