The February Challenage

I have been wanting to do this for a while.  I have heard of people who do a 30 day crafting with only what they have on hand.   Well I am here to say today is the start of that.  I will not be going to the DI (or Goodwill) to buy anything.  I will take things that are giving to me, but I can't buy anything.

Here are a few things that are on my list for the month:
  • Fabric Flowers
  • Baby blankets
  • Bibs
  • Bow Holder
  • Redo skirts into dresses
  • Headbands
  • Ruffle Bum Onsies
  • Scrapbooking
  • Cards
  • Flashcards
  • Finish my "beach bag"

The sad thing is this is just a few things that I could  do with what I have on hand. If there is anything that you would like to see a tutorial for just let me know!  I will try to do tutorials for all of them.

I was Featured!

Ok,so if you don't know me personally, I am kind of a nerd.  Now I don't say that to put myself down.  It is really true!  I am the type of person who when something happens like this it truly means the world to me.  I talk about it for days and I am on a high and it helps me want to do more projects.  I hope when I do features on my site you feel the same way.

There is this great blog called House of Grace.  She was so sweet and featured my Crafter's Haven.  I love am so honored and I love that she calls them He Twice Owed Queens.  I am a QUEEN!!  I will have to let my hubbie know so that he can honor me!  Haha, just kidding.  He already knows that!

You should go check out her party!  It is such a fun party and you should add it to your linking party list.  It is so fun to see what other people's creative think of.  Because I would never think of that!

It is DONE!!!!!!

As promised I finished my crafting heaven.  I am so excited!!!  It was actually finished later the same night I posted about it.  But if any of you have hunters for a husbands, then you know that this is kind of busy time of year.  This week is the dear hunt and so I am am husband less till Sunday.

As a reminder, here is the before:

I must say this was made possible by my sweet husband.  He was working right by my side till wee hours of the morning so that we could get it done before the hunt so that I could us it while he was gone.  But I have been so busy that I haven't even had two seconds to use it.

I was going to put it in my craft room, but it is a smaller walk in closet and not very much space.  Plus I like to have movies on while I work.  I would not be able to do that.  So much cute hubbie suggested that we put it in the living room so that I could still watch movies and not be closed off to my little room.  I am so excited!

Here is the After: (Sorry for the crummy basement pictures!)

This top part is where all of my fun decor magazines are going to be stored.  I will be making them cute here shortly.  I will show you how I do that.  On these shelves I have my small paper, my glue and any adhesive.

Then I have all of my projects in here too.  So that as I get them done I will have more storage space and so they are easy to get too.

I am so excited and I hope that you all think that it is as cool as I do!  It has been such a great things and I can't wait to use it.

I will be linking to THESE parties.

Also don't forget to stop by on Tuesday, for Tuesday Tell All.

My Craft Heaven!!!

SO on Thursday I was looking on KSL Classifies just for fun and I looked in the dresser section when I stumble up on this!!!

I fell in love in a heart beat and she was hard to get to my house.  My hubbie was at work and I didn't have a car seat.  So I  called my parents and my awesome dad came with me with his truck.  We got there and lifted it.  I thought I was going to die!  It is like 75 pounds and I am not even making that up! I thought that it was in better shape then it was. My amazing hubbie and I spent the night stripping it.  (Yes, there were tons of jokes about strippers too).

Later on, I was talking with my hubbie and he was talking to me about it and I said I am super excited about my secretary desk.  He looked at me and said, "That is not what it is called."  I was intrigued.  "What is it called then?"  He smiled and said Your Crafting Heaven."  I couldn't fight with that!

Then on Friday I sanded it down, primed it and painted it! (of course, I forgot to take pictures)  I even got most of the poly on it!  I am going to let it air out over the weekend.  Then it will be put in my craft room!!!  I am so excited I can hardly wait.  I can't wait to show you it!

My Maganet Board!

Welcome Welcome!  I am so glad that you all came for Tuesday Tell All! I have an amazing hubbie and I was able to get some crafting done this weekend. Hurray!  I have been wanting to do somethings.  This is one of them.

A while back I got the idea to do a magnet board.  One day I was out thrifting with my friend Katie and she told me about a sweet sale on huge frames at the Di. They were all half off, so of course I wanted to go.  If I had more room I would have bought more then just one.  But this is the one that I decided on.

I bought a Rustoleum Ultra Cover 2x Aqua Spray paint.  I LUV this stuff! I was amazed at how amazing this stuff is.  I love how it turned out!

Then my friend gave me a piece of sheet metal for my birthday.  I covered it with brown burlap and glued it to the frame.  I am so excited to for the new addition to my craft room.

I then went to Ikea and got these awesome containers!  I can't wait to organize and fill them up.  My craft room is coming together great!  I can't wait till I have done some more to show you.

Now on to the linking party!

Tuesday Tell All #7

Welcome to Tuesday Tell All!  I am super excite about today's project.  I know that most of you don't have a problem remembering, but I have a huge problem!  I buy tons of stuff from the Di and then just pack it away.  Since we have moved I have been trying to finish my projects before I get more.

I saw a project the other day, where someone used a picture frame to write down all of their projects.  I thought that was a brilliant idea.  However, I forgot to copy the link, so if you know who did this I would love to give them credit.  So wanted to do one myself for my craft room.  I had just bought a frame that I didn't know what I would do with, but I knew that I would figure something out.  When I saw it, I knew that was what I should do with it.

I was going to do a tutorial, but then I forgot to take pictures in the middle of the process. However, this is how I did it.

  1. I bought a frame from the Di.
  2. Then I took the glass out and sprayed painted it bright red.  I love this color!
  3. Then I cleaned the glass and put it back in the frame.
  4. Get scrapbooking paper  and measure the frame with fun paper.
  5. Put everything back together and hang it where you would like it.
  6. Write ALL of the projects that need to be done.
  7. Enjoy!
This is  after I had spray painted it.

Here is how mine turned out.

I am crazy about it.  Hopefully this week, he will make the desk for my craft room.
(I can hope right)

I am linking to these parties.

The Crib Reveal!

As I told you, the crib is finally (almost) done. I thought it was done, I forgot that we hadn't got the handles done.  So last night I finished that ones that we could find.  We have had this crib for a long time and we took the handles off about two years ago.  So, we have four and are missing two.  We looked all over the house and even cleaned up to garage a little to see if they were out there.  Two birds with one stone.  We couldn't find them, hopefully soon.  Also there was a drawer that we need to redo, hopefully this week.

Anyways, the story behind the crib is we bought it forever ago.  Right after we bought the house.  We were not even planning on having a baby yet.  Greg called me at work and told me that he had found this awesome crib at a yard sale down the street.  He sent me a picture on my phone (which I wish that I had to show you).  I told him to get it.

Our little boys room is really small and this had a changing table that was attached.  We thought this would be a great space saver. Little did we know that it would take a about 2 years to get it done.  Greg started by sanding the awful yellowish finish off of it. We wanted to stain it.  We tried and it wouldn't stain evenly.  We then decided to paint it.  I went back and forth on what color and then decided to paint it white.  Which I am very glad that we did!

I forgot to take picture before I started to paint.  Here is what it looked like when I started.  The handles are brass and super ugly!   I tried to spray paint it.  I was new to it so I decided that I would just paint it with left over paint that we had from painting some of the rooms in our house.
This is the first coat of paint.  I am sorry that the pictures aren't very good.  I had to paint it in our basement because the weather here is not wanting to warm up enough to do anything outside.  I used a roller and a brush.  Which went by really fast.  I get bored really easy.

This is when we had finished doing the polyurethane.  We had to let it dry for about 1 1/2 days.

This is my sweet hubbie putting it together.  The crib is finally set up his room.  The top part folds down . The only thing was... I didn't realize how big it is.  So I think that I am going to have to change things around.  I am going to to somethings tomorrow.  I have some cool things that I am going to do for the walls.

These are the handles.  I used the Krylon Rubbed Oil Bronze that Thrifty Decor Chick talked about this last week.  I LOVE them! I can't wait to get them all done.  Then this is a missing drawer, it was way beat up.  This week my hubbie will be getting it fixed.

This here is the finished product. I love how it turned out!  I was nervous that my little one would have a hard time with sleeping in it since it is something new.  Not the case at all.  He LOVES his new crib.  The bedding by the way was not my first choice.  I found it at Savers for $30 dollars for the whole set and it matched the crazy wall color that I choose to do.  There is a bed skirt, but I can't use it.  All well.  At least when I resale it I have the whole set.

I hope that you like it as much as I do!  Let me know what you think!

It is FINALLY done!

It is done!  I think I could cry I am so excited,
THE CRIB IS Finally Finished.

All but the knobs which we will be going to buy the spray paint this evening.  Then I will be spraying them tomorrow.  My hubbie just told me that he will be setting it up tonight so I will take a ton of pictures and then I will post them.  So you can see what a great team my hubbie and I make.  He is just great!  But we need to let the poly sit for a while since it is so cold in our basement!  So stay tune for the amazing crib redo!

I think I am in LOVE!

First off I just wanted to thank all of you super kind people who replied to my post yesterday and all the sweet comments.  It truly made my day!  I couldn't stop smiling at all the nice things!

Now on to the fun craft that I have been up to today.  Yesterday was my amazing mom's birthday, so I needed to do something for her.  Of course I wait till the very last minute to do it.  We are having her birthday party tonight, so I needed to get started.  Now this women has every thing and more.  But you never can have too many cute home decor.  So I am doing her a wooden LOVE blocks.

I started with a left over pieces of a 2*4.  I had my sweet dad cut them for me.  Then I spray painted then with the Leather Brown Paint.  I have such a hard time with the drying part. I wish that I could just spray a thick coat and then it dry fast.  That is not how it work.  Thin coats and more then one. Yes, I sprayed other for another project! I am not quite sure yet.  But I will show you when I decide.

Then I sanded the edges.I then pulled out my scrapbook
paper scraps cute out a back piece.

Then I got out my handy dandy Cricut and cut out white letters.
With a little ink and a little time you get such a cute look.  It adds so much to it!  I love inking!

Then this is the final product!

I think I am in LOVE!
(Bytheway, she loved them!)

Harrison's Crib!

At the first of last month I told you all about some of my goals.  Well I am proud to tell you about at least one of my goals..
  • Paint Harrison's crib that we have had forever!
My hubbie has been awesome to help, when I get burnt out.  So I can't take all of the credit, he has been amazing.  We are almost done.  I asked him to help me get it done before Valentine's day.  We work better on a died line.  It needs one more coat of paint, then my hubbie is great with polyurethane, so he will be doing that.  I didn't have one of the beginning, but I have taken pictures the whole time we have been doing it.

So hopefully this next week will have awesome pictures to show you! Stay turn!

Picture Frame Earring holder!

I told you last night that the creative juices where flowing!  I made an earring holder!  I have seen these all over and I LOVE them!  I have been wanting to make one forever!  So today I did!

Of course, I forgot to take pictures of the before.  Just think an blood red with gold accent. It was UGLY! I made it from a frame that I got for free and wire mesh that we inherited when we bought the house.  I spray painted it white.  Then I saw a trick where you water down brown craft paint and it looks like stain.  So I decide to try it!  I wiped it on and let it sit for a min then wipe it off just like stain.

It is far from perfect, but it was my first try. After what seemed like forever of painting and drying, I was ready to attach the mesh. Oh how I wish I had a staple gun, but I don't (it is on my birthday list).  So I hot glued in the mesh, which was a pain!  I then put my earrings on and I was done!  I loved how it turned out.  It is not prefect, but I love it!

The last two pictures are of the beautiful detail this frame has!
  I LOVE it!
